Now that “Hell Week” at work has drawn to a close I should be able to find some time to pick up my book and actually start reading it!  As I’ve said in other posts, I’m rereading Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.  I am currently on book 4, Drums of Autumn.  If you are not intimidated by a lengthy book and like historical fiction with some paranormal/time travel thrown in, this series is a must read!  I just wish that I could find more time to read… sigh.  But hey, working 7 days a week is only until Father’s Day, so I’m almost there!

Have you read The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon? Do you have a series you absolutely love and reread?

Book Review “Winter’s Tale”

In all fairness I’m just going to start by saying I only got 40% of the way into this book (according to my Overdrive App). I just couldn’t stand going any further. The story jumped around a lot, and the author described EVERYTHING down to the very tiniest detail whether or not it was really relevant to the story. (Seriously, was the fact that Jack the Rooster thought it was a cat instead of a rooster important in the 2nd half of the story? Anyone?) There were way too many characters and the actual story of Peter Lake and Beverly was much briefer than I expected since their timeless love was supposed to be the whole central part of this story.

I was disappointed with this book, and kept hoping it would get better.  Wanted to read the book before watching the movie because books are always better than the movie.  Yet, though I have not yet seen the movie, I fear this may be one of the few cases where a movie is better than the book.

On the plus side, Now that I’ve given up the struggle to get through this story, I have moved onto rereading DRAGONFLY IN AMBER (book 2 of OUTLANDER series) by Diana Gabaldon to prepare for the release of the 8th book in June!  Started last night after quitting WINTER’S TALE and already on page 298 of 947.
